It's been 10 years since I could pick up a baseball or football, but with the Quadcontrol I can escape to the world of sports at least a couple evenings a week. I have chosen to study video game design through the Art Institute online because of my passion to create accessible video games. After discovering the quadcontroller from a Christopher Reeve's resource guide I was finally able to realize there is a controller that I can use. This controller has allowed me to connect to the story line unlike I haven't been able to before and now I can appreciate the character's abilities and special features more. Before, I only used an arcade joystick and my mouthstick, but now I can control almost every aspect of the game except for running and shooting at the same time, for example in the games like Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell. Undoubtedly this controller will aid me in the process of creating accessible video games, not only for myself, but also for those who need a rehabilitation tool. That is my goal and God willing whatever stands in my way will shortly become no obstacle. The game I choose to highlight for the use of this controller would be Psychonauts for the Xbox. This game is a new inspiration for me because of the colorful environments and intriguing mind manipulation the characters have to fight with. Thank you for helping me to further realize my goals are possible and for reconnecting my love to the stories and characters of these games.
